Pellets

Some Things to Consider when Selecting Wood Pellets

  • Quality and consistency are more important than whether pellets are made from hardwoods or softwoods.
  • Look for pellets with higher BTU’s because they burn hotter. Look for numbers above 8,000 BTU/lb.
  • Low ash content means less maintenance.
  • Low moisture content means more energy is used to heat your home instead of evaporating moisture in the pellets.
  • Small amounts of fines or dust. These particles are produced during manufacture and can cause performance and maintenance problems.
